View our work at the Green Music Center, at Sonoma State University.

As the centerpiece of Sonoma State University’s world class performing arts venue, the Donald and Maureen Green Music Center, Joan and Sanford I. Weill Hall boasts not only a rich and pure acoustical quality, but also an astonishing display of some of the finest wood craftsmanship produced in the world today. The lower rear wall of the space can be fully opened to the outdoors thereby extending the concert experience to the audience seated in the surrounding terraced landscape. Theatre Solutions worked closely with the full project design team to develop and test an elegant solid wood audience chair which meets all of the most exacting acoustic, ergonomic, aesthetic, and functional requirements. The chairs are constructed of European Steamed Beech and are joined with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Fixed tip-up chairs are ganged in groups of one, two, or three chairs. Loose chairs with fixed seats are set along the sides of the Orchestra level. Special attention was paid to the cushioning material in order to assure comfort at the same time as attaining the acoustical attributes specified for this performance space.
